Basic RPAS training
Course Overview: Fixed Wing, Multirotor or Both, Theory and Practical
Course Duration: Online plus 2 days classroom theory – 3 days field practical per type
Expected Outcome: CASA RePL Certificate
Cost: $2700 +GST (+$500 for additional type)
Flight Data Systems offer dedicated RPAS courses for individuals wanting to obtain their RPAS licence and operate remotely piloted aircraft systems. This basic training course is run over 5 days involving both theory and practical training.
This training course is categorized as Basic RPAS Training and you will be granted a certificate to fly any Fixed Wing RPA <7kg, or any Multirotor RPA <7kg, depending on the practical aspect you complete. This course is intended for students with no existing or previously held aviation licenses and covers theory and practical aspects of RPAS operations, it is competency based throughout.
Theory units are completed online and students are able to call FDS with any questions or concerns during their theory training. Through a secure server students access course material and have 30 days from commencement to complete the assessments. Upon successful completion of exams (80% minimum must be achieved on each assessment) the student is eligible for the Practical Training component.
Infield exercises covers the practical aspects of operating a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System. At the FDS flight range you will cover each practical element and relate the theory content to real life scenarios.
FDS can then lodge an application with CASA for the student to receive their Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) allowing that student to operate under the guidance of a company ReOC (RPA Operators Certificate) legally.
