Behind the many Flight Data Systems products and services are our dedicated team members such as Group Sales Administrator Rihana Mohammed, who brings passion and spirit to our head office in Melbourne, Australia.
Before discovering her passion in aerospace, Rihana began her career in science. After studying analytical chemistry, biotechnology, and electronics, she enjoyed a decade in the research, first as an Industrial Laboratory Technician and later as a Research Analyst.
“I worked for a company for ten plus years that specialized in sales and service of analytical instrumentation consisting of chromatography, mass spectrometry, spectroscopy, and environmental testing,” she explains. “I used to deal with customers and clients from chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology laboratories, from the food, research, and development industries.”
In October 2018, Rihana and her family moved to Melbourne, Australia, from New Zealand, and joined the Flight Data Systems sales team at the Melbourne office. With more exposure and increased visibility in her new avionics job role, she says her passion and confidence level for aerospace increased, allowing her to team up with the sales and service department.
When Rihana is not focusing on work, she says family, friends, and reading a good Danielle Steel book keeps her energized.
“There are a lot of things I do to bring fun into my life. Mostly, I do something that involves my kids, so I can jump on the trampoline, ride bikes, play soccer, Fortnite, and Nintendo Switch. I also enjoy meeting with my friends once a month for a fancy lunch date and going to movies with my family.”

What advice do you have for others looking to join the aerospace sector?
My advice to others looking to join the aerospace sector in a similar role to mine would be to be yourself - do not pretend to be someone you are not! Educate yourself, be a self-learner, and develop yourself in your job area. Also, be kind and respectful of others' race, religion, culture, and beliefs.
